Nihilism and Acedia: the meaninglessness of contemporary nature

Abstract
The following article explains the relationship that lies between the concept of nihilism, elaborated on Nietzsche’s philosophical views; and acedia, as a part of the development of the seven capital sins exposed by Thomas Aquinas. Relation that, even considering the wide range of time between these authors, can be glimpsed as how both visualize a sequence of human’s behavior that transcends all their spiritual and psychological understanding, representing the «meaninglessness» as a decisive final point in every human action that lays in those dilemmas. Furthermore, understanding the fact that both Thomas Aquinas and Nietzsche were capable of elucidate the loss of values and habits, will help us notice that the responsible of exhibiting mankind as both the victim and culprit of its own destiny are the sequence of situations attached to those moral scarcities.
