Max Scheler: love, tragedy and philosophy

Abstract
This article analyses and relates three central elements in Max Scheler's thought: love, tragedy and philosophy. Since Scheler deals with these themes in mostly separate works, it is proposed to articulate them by tracing and making explicit key passages, showing how each one enables and grounds the next one until their final interrelation. In addition, freedom and suffering, necessary elements for the continuity of the analysis, will be considered, although treated in a shorter way. The approach will follow a clear and orderly itinerary, allowing an understanding of the function and place of each element in Schelerian philosophy.
