Aristotle and abortion: The principle of potentiality
Main Article Content
Abstract
Aristotle is one of the authors who, directly or indirectly, has contributed greatly to contemporary discussion about diverse topics in Bioethics. Abortion stands out among them, given its topicality and contingency. This article proposes an analysis of the so-called potentiality principle, an argument that has been used for and against the defense of the unborn, by both Christian Philosophy and the English Actualism. The aim for this article is to demonstrate that, following the principles of Aristotle’s ontology, human life starts with the fecundation.
