El presente texto esboza, desde el análisis de la misa popular salvadoreña, la concepción pastoral de dos grandes mártires de la Iglesia de San Salvador: Mons. Oscar Romero y Rutilio Grande SJ. Se abordan los conceptos de invitación al banquete, y transfiguración desde el discurso de las homilías de Romero y Rutilio Grande y cómo este pensamiento pastoral está representado en la misa popular salvadoreña. Se describen también los elementos que dieron pie a la creación de misas populares en Latinoamérica teniendo como punto de partida el Concilio Vaticano II.
