This article presents a very personal and original appreciation of the biblical text of Lc 9, 10-17. Although it is the only miracle of Jesus told by the four evangelists, we have chosen the Gospel of St. Luke because of the richness of its content. Modern editions of the Bible unanimously call this text “the multiplication of the loaves and fish”. However, thanks to an attentive analysis of the original text, the reader can eas-ily realize that this title does not show the ultimate, deep sense of these lines, that is, the messianic revelation of Jesus Christ through His action and not through His word; the effective sign of this action points to the eschatological banquet of the last days.
