THE EXCLUDED, VICTIMS OF SOCIAL INJUSTICE IN THE ORACLE AGAINST ISRAEL: A READING FROM AMOS 2, 6-8

Abstract

Social exclusion is a concept that integrates poverty and marginalization. Conditions present in the social environment where the prophecy of Amos arose and in today’s world. In the Oracle against Israel, the prophet denounces injustices that affect the just, the needy, the poor, the oppressed and the girl, within the framework of power dynamics generated by the marked inequality of the prosperous Northern Kingdom of the VIII century B.C. The victims of the oppressors are at the center of the prophet’s denunciation in Am 2, 6-8. This article proposes a reading of the text based on a rhetorical analysis, which focuses on the victims of the injustices that the prophet condemns, the excluded.
