Joseph Ratzinger participated in an intense way in the conciliar discussion. In the texts before 1965, the ideas that he will defend later are already visible. On these lines, it is possible to see his views grouped around the four big Constitutions. Regarding the Liturgy, the German theologian appreciates the liturgical renewal and the central-ity of the Eucharistic in the church life. About the scripture, he started the discussion about the only source of Revelation and the comprehension of the Christianity as a salvation history. Regarding the church, he tries to recover the primitive church mod-el: sacramentality, Eucharist ecclesiology, primate and collegiality. As far as Gaudium et spes, the Bavarian theologian rejects a politicization of the church mission, as well as a perspective that would see the Christ’s wife only as a wordly entity. Finally, there is a clear idea about the missionary dimension of the whole church, as risen signal among the nations.
