Abstract

This article reflects on the permanent reference of theology to the Mystery of God. This reference warns against any reductionism of theology to a rationalism, showing the salvific-pastoral purpose that is inherent in theology. This valid reality for universal theology has had a privileged development in Latin America since the Second Vatican Council, as a theology at the root of which is the binomial contemplation-commitment, configuring a liberating spirituality that has characterized theological and pastoral work in Latin America.
