Meaning and conditions of the manifestation of god in the universe according to some texts of the summa theologiae and the summa contra gentiles of Thomas Aquinas
Main Article Content
Abstract
At the beginning of the Summa Contra Gentiles, in defining the purpose of his work, St. Thomas says that God creates to manifest the truth. This study will analyze this phrase and show how God manifests itself in the universe, and how the act of manifestation itself assumes the existence of a recipient of the same, which has to be an intellectual creature that can recognize its author through his work. With this aim the meaning of the notion of truth will be analyzed in Summa contra Gentiles I, and it will be related to the concept of manifestation indicated in the same article and then to be able to indicate if the created universe is a hierophanic reality.
