Senses and conditions of God's manifestation in the universe according to some texts of Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologica and Summa Contra Gentiles
Main Article Content
Abstract
At the beginning of the Summa Contra Gentiles, in defining the objective of his work, Saint Thomas Aquinas states that God creates to manifest Himself. This study will demonstrate in what sense God manifests Himself in the universe, and how the act of manifestation itself requires a recipient, which must be an intellectual creature capable of recognizing its author through his work. To achieve this objective, the sense of the notion of truth in Summa Contra Gentiles I, 1 will be analyzed and related to the concept of manifestation indicated in the same article, in order to determine whether the created universe is a hierophanic reality.
