Aims

The Revista de Filosofía UCSC aims to promote, publish, and disseminate unpublished and original articles of high academic quality in diverse areas of philosophy. Its main purpose is to contribute to the generation of knowledge in this humanistic field, to foster the search for truth, and to generate dialogue between reason and Christian faith.

Each publication is primarily directed at researchers, professors, and students in the field of philosophy and secondarily at researchers from other areas of knowledge and the general public. The journal accepts unpublished articles, essays, communications, and original notes from academic research. The majority of researchers who publish in our journal are from Chile or Latin America, although not exclusively. The official language of the Revista de Filosofía UCSC is Spanish, but we also accept writing in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and English.

Scope

The Revista de Filosofía UCSC accepts original contributions in various areas of philosophy, including but not limited to:

• Christian Philosophy: analysis and proposals regarding the key elements that the philosophical tradition has explored concerning the Christian faith.
• History of Philosophy: analysis and critical studies of the main philosophical currents throughout history, as well as the examination of the relevance of classical philosophers in the contemporary context.
• Metaphysics: analysis of different doctrines concerning being and the comprehensive understanding of reality.
• Contemporary Philosophy: exploration and debate of the main current philosophical trends, such as phenomenology, existentialism, pragmatism, postmodernism, among others.
• Ethics and Moral Philosophy: ethical reflections on contemporary issues, moral dilemmas, ethical theories, and their practical application in different social and cultural contexts.
• Epistemology and Philosophy of Science: research on the nature of knowledge, scientific methods, the relationship between science and society, and the philosophy of specific disciplines such as physics, biology, or psychology, among others.
• Philosophy of Mind and Cognition: exploration of the nature of mind, consciousness, cognitive processes, artificial intelligence, and advances in neuroscience that present philosophical challenges.
• Social and Political Philosophy: critical analysis of political theories, social thought, justice, democracy, human rights, and applied ethics to social and political affairs.

The Revista de Filosofía UCSC is an academic publication affiliated with the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Theological Studies and Philosophy at the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción.

The Revista de Filosofía UCSC aims to ensure that the majority of articles are authored by external contributors, with articles by internal authors from our university representing approximately 20% annually.

Ownership and Management of the Revista de Filosofía UCSC

The Revista de Filosofía UCSC is an academic publication affiliated with the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Theological Studies and Philosophy at the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción. As such, it assumes all economic costs associated with the journal.

Periodicity

Revista de Filosofía UCSC followed a biannual publication model. Once the articles were accepted, they were typeset and published in a single volume per year, divided into two issues, corresponding to each semester.

The call for submissions is continuously open.

Editorial Process Timelines

The Revista de Filosofía UCSC has a 5-day timeframe for the initial response from the section editor or submission for peer review. It has an 8-week timeframe for double evaluation by external peer reviewers. The editorial team combined rigorous peer review with efficient editorial processing exclusively conducted in an electronic format.

Fees

The Revista de Filosofía UCSC does not charge any fees for processing, editing, or publication of any of its articles. In addition, there are no charges to access the content.

History of the Revista de Filosofía UCSC

The Revista de Filosofía UCSC was established in 2002 as an annual publication. Since 2011, it has been published biannually within the corresponding periods. Owing to the contributions of various distinguished researchers, it has been continuously published and has achieved a high level of academic excellence.
