Abstract

Renewal in the spirit of Vatican II is not often in tune with the spirituality of ordinary people. This essay refers to joyful faith lived in a marian shrine on the north of Chile. People´s faith is an alternative to consuming religion. Ordinary spirituality and the Spirit of God go hand in hand; on the basis of Gaudium et Spes and of the Aparecida document of Latin American bishops. Theological discourse is and has to be more challenging, symbolic, mystagogical. GS´s sensus fidei and its response to “signs of the times” is rooted in creation, the paschal event, and pentecost.
