The paper, based on a prose text written by Gabriela Mistral, and taking into account her written work as a whole, examines 1) the origin of their first contact with the Bible, 2) the specific edition of the Biblical History that she could read in the school, 3) the Spanish Biblical version that she probably managed, and 4) the meaning of the Bible and its influence on the personal life and the written work of the great Chilean poet.
