Pope Francis Apostolic Exhortation “Gaudete et Exsultate” reminds believers of the universal call to holiness, returning to the valuable roots of Scripture and Tradition. This article seeks to make a deep reflection about the same issue of holiness, taking into consideration Saint Gregory of Nyssa’s contribution in this subject. He proposes a concept of holiness as a resemblance to God. He suggests that the person freely chooses to respond to God’s call and, by following Jesus and doing God’s will, be-comes the image of the Image of God. The article exposes Gregory of Nyssa’s theologi-cal foundation arguments articulated with his description of the witnesses of Macrina and Basilio, his siblings.
