This work presents a theological study of Saint Michael the Archangel, based mainly on the work of the Flemish Jesuit Cornelius À Lapide (1567-1637). The analysis is presented according to the order in which the archangel is mentioned in the Holy Scriptures, starting from the prophecy of Daniel, going through the epistle of Judas Thaddeus, until reaching its mentions in the Apocalypse. The presence of Saint Michael in the history of the cult and Catholic liturgy, and its historical significance, are also reviewed. This article can be taken as an introduction to the classical theology and biblical exegesis of Saint Michael the Archangel.
