Abstract
Étienne Bimbenet's work has stood out as one of the leading commentaries on the thinking of French phenomenologist Maurice Merleau-Ponty, especially for its emphasis on the problem of the human in his work, which we can already see in Nature et Humanité (2004). However, what was initially his own interpretation of another thinker's philosophy would later become an entirely original proposal concerning the link and distinctions between anthropology and phenomenology, specifically a rearticulation of the question of the human and its implications for thinking about its distinction from the animal.
