Anthropology, realism, and the common world in the philosophy of Étienne Bimbenet
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper aims to demonstrate how Étienne Bimbenet's philosophy evolves from phenomenology to a realistic thesis that enables us to define what is human and what is animal. The relationship with animals is described here as a departure from the idealistic encapsulation of the given, opening up to the thing itself. A truly human way of life would therefore be one that, through language and rules, accounts for a shared world. This difference from animals enables us to grasp the unique nature of human beings, who are oriented towards the transcendent, embracing the very animality from which they originated.
