This article aims to introduce the concept “God: absolute future” in the context of Karl Rahner’s dialogue with modernity, particularly with evolutionism, Marxism and the technological future. It is only from the absolute future that a human history be-comes possible, for unconditionality lies at the foundation of freedom. This absolute future is already interior to the world through God’s self-communication, and from it is possible to understand evolution as a process of active self-trascendence. The starting point for Rahner’s reflection is the freedom and dignity of the individual human being, i.e., it takes as its point of departure one of the fundamental axes of modernity itself.
