The Enciclical Caritas in Veritate from Pope Benedict XVI invites to a dialog between social sciences, philosophy and theology. They concur with the meaning of work in the Social Teaching of the Church with the one presented by John Paul II in Laborem exercens. This article presents the thought of Karol Wojtyla about the phenomenology of the person as the ethical perspective about the subjective meaning of work ignored by the industrial revolution under capitalist influence. The dignity of the person as a goal has ethical demands to be applied in economical and political activities.
