Abstract

The article is an approach to women deprived of liberty´s reality and the discriminations that the prison system supposes for them. It starts with a characterization on the profile of the inmates, followed by the analyze on the social transgression of crime aspects. Subsequently a study is made of how they are affected by entering into prison, and finishes with an analysis on the discrimination that affects them at the level of infrastructure, maternity, sexual and reproductive Rights, health, sanctions and training. The harsh conditions imposed by the prison are considerably worse in their case, generating irreparable damage not only for them and their offspring but for the entire society.
