Abstract

The feeding behaviour of Concholepas concholepas (Bruguiere), under cyclic light and dark laboratory conditions is studied. The mussel Perumytilus purpuratus and the limpet Collisella sp. are used as loco’s prey. The results show that C. concholepas feeds preferently during periods of darkness independently ofdiumaltime. Furthermore, the need to carey on research in order to establish the possible existence of endogenous rhythm components acting upon initiation or inhibition of the feeding activity of C. concholepas is discussed.
