In mollusk, transaminases Glutamic Piruvic (GPT) and Glutamic Oxalacetic (GOT) have an important
function in the osmorregulatory processes, providing free aminoacids. Alterations in its functionality
seem to be in connection with the presence of xenobiotics and heavy metáis in the environment.
In this work, we pretend to determine a base line for the transaminases activity in a bivalve mollusk. We
determined the activity for GOT and GPT and totals proteins concentration in the edible clam Anteghinoniya
antigua in two places of Bio Bio Región, a polluted area and control area.
The results showed differences to specific activity in GOT (14,3 pmolL’g'1 Concepción. B.; 32,55 pmolL'g'
Coliumo. B) and GPT (6,85 pmolL'g ', Concepción. B; 2,27 pmolL 'g 'Coliumo. B to A.antigua hemolymph.
Totals proteins have significant differences in A.antigua for both areas, Coliumo. B (24,85 gL‘) and Concepción
B. (16,9 gL ').
Probably, the high enzymatic activity in hemolymph is due to hepatocellular injury, induced for environmental
contamination in the area.
