Abstract

This work presents the larval stages of the Sergestidae Peisos petrunkevitchi Burkenroad, 1945, a very important species in the trophic webs of the Ecosystem of the Coastal Waters of the Buenos Aires and the Northen Patagonian Regions. The complete larval development was carried out under laboratory conditions (average temperature: 18°C, salinity: 34%o) and it took 45 to 48 days. The eggs were obtained from mature females wich spawned in the laboratory. The nauplius grew using their own reserves but the other stages were fed with the diatom Skeletonema costatum. Four nauplii, five protozoeae, two zoeae and four postlarval stages are described.
