Abstract

The present work reviews the literature pertinent to the biology and mass culture of Aulacomya ater (Molina.
1782) in Chile.
Most of the Information on Chilean Aulacomya natural beds has bcen gathered from localities in Southern Chile. Most beds, so far studied, have been found occurnng at depths between 0 and 20 m., normally associated with rocky bottoms and steep slopes. An analysts of pertinent data does not show significant differences in densities of beds occurring in different types of substrata.
