Abstract

A population study was made with 449 Basilichthys australis EIGENMANN specimens. caught from the last end of the Maipo River, on thc Tejas Verdes area, Chile, from august 1969 to october 1970.
Some of the trophic relations of this specie werc studied, and the gastric contents of these catched specimens were analized. The trophic level was determined by a qualitative study of their gastric contents. Population and Biological observations in some species
eaten by B. australis were made possible by this quantitative análisis.
