Abstract

Motivation is directly related to academic success. However, motivation is affected during adolescence due to changes during this stage of neurodevelopment. Is critical to search for alternatives that are able to counteract the short and long term negative effects associated with this unbalance of motivation. Hence, the aim of this systematic review is to identify the effect of board games implementation in adolescents’s learning and motivation. This study was developed through the analysis of current investigations between 2019 and 2023 using the next databases, Science Direct, Web Of Science, SAGE, ERIC and Google Scholar. The impact on learning using board games in adolescents and the motivational effects were determined. Also the developed skills through board games were identified. The main findings are that board games implementation on adolescents improves motivation, conceptual learning and high order skills. Board games are proposed as a complementary tool to motivate students in scholar context and with this, improve their learning and high order skills.
